NEWS & ISSUES

The Radnor Democratic Committee held its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in the Windsor Room of Radnor Memorial Library. Recent actions by Radnor Township School Board prompted a unanimous resolution authorizing Radnor Democratic Committee Chairman Bruce Bikin to send a letter to School Board President Kathy Fisher critical of the Board’s one-sided preemptive campaign against back-end referendum and tax reform.

Radnor School Board has launched an aggressive letter writing and communication campaign on the district's website against back-end referendum directed at state legislators and the Governor.

"I am troubled by the notion of taking back-end referendum off the table prior to the legislature delineating all the exceptions to the act which can be quite generous," said Bruce Bikin, Radnor Democratic Committee Chairman. "The devil is in the details with back-end referendum, but it may well be a necessary component of meaningful property tax reform which we support."

In other business, Christina Perrone discussed the continuing bipartisan effort of Radnor taxpayers to get answers to their questions about the township budget, employees' health benefit packages and other matters.

"This is not a Democratic or Republican thing," she said. "It’s about expecting a straight answer to simple questions. It’s about professional management, good government, and the truth."
